2/29/16

No luck with the doctor's office this morning.  They made me come in for an appointment and then confirmed that I do have strep and gave me the prescription.  I hope my antibiotic kicks in as fast as Bert's because I am so tired of feeling sick.  They say that after you've been on the antibiotic for 24 hours you are no longer contagious.  We are keeping our fingers crossed and praying hard that none of our kids get sick.

I can't seem to catch a break from sickness.  I was sick last weekend and it dragged on for most of the week.  I had about 2 days of feeling like myself again and now I'm sure I have Strep.  Bert's had a sore throat for a few days and finally decided to go have it checked out since his Mom, my Dad, and a lot of others we know have had it recently.  It seems to be making the rounds.  He went to the Instacare tonight (we always seem to get sick on weekends when the doctor's office isn't open) and he does have Strep.  He got started on the antibiotic right away and was feeling better by bedtime.  I'm planning on calling the doctor's office in the morning and hoping they'll call me in a prescription without an appointment because I'm sure that's what I have too.  My throat has never hurt so bad.  It throbs all the time and hurts so much to swallow.

2/26/16

Ben and Becky are in the process of selling their house and spent the day cleaning and packing a few things to be ready to put it on the market.  The kids came over this evening and then spent the night with us so Ben and Becky could keep working and not have extra messes.  All the big kids slept downstairs and watched Curly Sue before they fell asleep and the 3 little girls had a sleepover upstairs in their bedroom.

I was laying in bed watching a show tonight and Ry came in to show me her beautiful dress and tell me she was "fabulouser" than anyone else.  I guess we've been reading too many Fancy Nancy books.

2/22/16

I woke up nauseous and sick yesterday morning.  I had a headache, chills and was achy all over.  Bert stayed home from meetings to help and then went to church and the boys helped take care of the little girls for me so I could stay in bed and sleep.  Mom and Dad came by after church and were nice enough to feed the kids lunch and put the girls down for a nap so I could keep resting.  I felt like crap all day and didn't sleep well last night.  I was hoping to feel better this morning but was still sick so Bert stayed home from work to take care of everything while I laid in bed.  He came in to check on me tonight and had a few followers that wanted to be wherever he was.

Today was Cooper's last basketball game and he had quite the crowd cheering for him.  Miss Seamons, his teacher this year, was kind enough to come and support along with Tiff, Nana and Papa.  Bert had so much fun coaching Cooper's team this year.  I'm sure he'll want to do it again next year!

Sleepover!!  Rylee loves sleepovers and wants to do them with the boys all the time which doesn't always work because they get to stay up later on Fridays.  So tonight we let all the girls have a sleepover on the floor in their room.  They were so excited to sleep in their new sleeping bags that they got for Christmas.  They of course talked a lot and then got up way earlier then normal.  Fun times!

We went shopping with Nana today while Rylee was at school.  We were trying to help her find a new wallet but the ones Jordy and Addi were suggesting were not a big hit.

I finally got brave enough to take away the pacifiers.  We had tried about 6 months ago and it didn't go so well.  For about 5 days they just cried and cried during their naps and at bedtime and it never got any better so I decided they weren't ready and I gave it back to them.  I've been dragging my feet about attempting it again because of how it went last time and because I figured the older they got the harder it would be.  We decided Saturday was the day and we didn't let them take a nap so they would be extra tired.  We talked about it all day with them and tried to play it up and talk about how they are big girls now!  I had made these pillow cases to give them for their birthday but we gave them to them tonight instead to hopefully replace their pacifiers.  They of course asked for their "paci's" when it was time for bed and there were a few tears but after I calmed them down and did our bedtime routine we didn't hear another peep from them all night long.  I couldn't believe how well they did and I was so grateful for it!

We had a big birthday celebration at Nana and Papa's today.  We had 5 birthdays to celebrate: Luke, Ben, Chris, Addi and Jordy.  It was total chaos and really loud!  Everyone loved their presents and enjoyed their banana splits.

We celebrated the girls birthday today at Kangaroo Zoo.  They loved it!  Jordyn wasn't as into it as Addi but they both still had a great time and went on slide after slide.  Ben and Becky joined us and so did Nana, Papa, Chris, Kaycie and Tiff.  After the kids had worn themselves out we headed to Taco Amigo for dinner and shakes!

Bert got home late last night from Santa Barbara and Becky offered to keep the girls for us today so we could have a date in Salt Lake.  We stopped at The Egg and I in Draper and had breakfast and then headed to the Salt Lake temple to do a session.  Neither of us had ever done a temple session there and we both really liked it.  I loved looking at all the architecture of the building.  It is so beautiful!!  On the way home we drove by Bert's new office building that is being built in Draper.  It looks like it's almost done and the company is planning on moving in April.  We are both way excited about that because it will shorten his commute time and he will be able to take Frontrunner to work most days.

Today was Addi and Jordy's 3rd birthday!  Bert is in Santa Barbara this week for work so I wasn't planning on doing anything until the weekend when he was home.  We ended up going to Chick-fil-A for lunch and playing on the playland.  Nana came with us and Ben & Becky met us there.  The girls loved it and I realized it was their first time eating there and playing on the playground.   

In the evening we went over to Nana and Papa's and the girls got to open one present.  Rylee gave them both new Magnadoodle's.  I think they had a fun day even though it was very low key.  I can't believe they're 3 years old.  I spent some time looking at old pictures of when they were born and their NICU stay and marveled at how 3 years can seem like forever and seem like it flew by at the same time.  We love these girls and are so glad they are a part of our family!

We made pizza bombs for dinner tonight.  When I was in college, my roommates and I would eat out at Craigo's and always order pizza bombs.  We started making our own in our apartment to save money and we still make them almost every time we get together.  The kids love when we have pizza bombs for dinner.  They get to roll their own dough out and pick out all their toppings and I love that everyone eats their dinner without any coaxing or bribing!

A few years ago all the music and some of the pictures on our computer were mysteriously deleted.  Bert tried everything to restore the computer but nothing worked.  I was so upset about the pictures because it was the entire folder of Jackson's birth and hospital stay. When I remembered that I had printed them all off for a baby book I was so relieved and I finally got around to scanning them all back onto the computer today.  It was fun to look through them all and remember when I became a mom for the first time.
