Broken Wrist

Bert and the boys were playing basketball on Saturday morning and Cooper was standing on the bed and reaching over to reach the hoop and fell. At first we just thought he landed on his head but when I asked him where it hurt he pointed to his left wrist. We got him all calmed down and he seemed fine until he tried to crawl and then he started crying again really hard. So we took him into the Instacare (which was ridiculous! We waited in the waiting room about 40 minutes and then after the doctor checked him out and ordered x-rays we waited again for another 40 minutes. We were at the doctors for 2 1/2 hours!) . His left wrist is broken and he has a temporary cast on right now and will get the permanent one on tomorrow.Waiting for the doctor to come in and check us out! He was a good sport about all of it. He got pretty tired of waiting but other than that he just hung out with us. As long as he wasn't putting any pressure on his wrist then he wasn't in pain and seemed fine!
This was right after we left the doctor's office. They gave him a sling but that only lasted about a half hour and then he didn't want it on anymore! The hardest thing about being a mom is when your kids get hurt or sick. It's so hard to decide if it's bad enough to take them into the doctor, it's hard to know how to help them, and the hardest thing is to see them in any kind of pain. You just want to take it away from them and you'll deal with the broken bone as long as they don't have to. He's been such a trooper about the whole thing. He's asked me to take it off a couple of times when it interferes with playing basketball but for the most part he doesn't complain. He has already started babying that arm and so I know it will be a while (even after the cast comes off) that he will use that arm again. These are some cute pictures I took of the boys before church yesterday! They looked so handsome. I was telling Bert the other day that I am finally grateful that they are so close in age. When I found out I was pregnant with Cooper, Jacks was only 10 months old, and I really freaked out. I was never excited about having another one already until after Cooper was born and I held him and loved him. But it was really hard to have a newborn baby and a 19 month old. It's always been a challenge to have them so close together, but I am finally grateful for it. They play so well together and entertain each other so well. They never get bored because they always have a buddy to play with. They can make each other laugh so hard and it always makes me laugh to listen to them. I'm not saying that I would do this again if I had a choice, but I am glad that it worked out like this and that we survived it! I love you Jacks and Cooper more than you will ever know!!!

Poor kid. I hate when stuff like that happens. I will have to tell you Bryce's stitches story someday. I admit having kids close is crazy but I have to agree with you. At least my kids have always had someone they can play with. I hope he is better soon.

thanks holls for the little bit about the kids being so close in age. I'm due in about 5 weeks and i keep wondering how i'm going to survive having two little little ones. It's nice to know i'm not the only one out there that has been worried about that and that there may even be a point at which i'll be grateful they are so close together

Poor little guy! I hope he heals soon! I'm sorry I haven't gotten back to you...I really do want to hang out again sometime but if you haven't gathered it from my blog, we've been pretty busy lately. My mom and Rikki are coming into town this weekend though and we were hoping to stop by your parents at some point so maybe we'll see each other then. But after Ryan and I get moved into our new house, we will have to go to another movie sometime, deal? ;-)
